It’s Monday, so this is a sort of #musicmonday post, but just one piece today – A Single Petal of a Rose, by Duke Ellington, from his ‘Queens Suite.’ It was written by Ellington after meeting Queen Elizabeth II in 1958 and recorded in 1959. Ellington only allowed one copy of the suite to be pressed, and sent it to the Queen. The recording was given a public release in 1979.
